Adele Kazin Spiro

   Adele Kazin Spiro, 66, of Pennington, died on Sunday at her residence.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Meyer (Mac) Kazin and Elsie Lederman Kazin, she was a graduate of Brooklyn College.
   Ms. Spiro had lived in the Hopewell Valley area since 1983. She was deeply involved in public education, giving her time to her children’s activities and schools. She was a former member of the Hopewell Valley District Parents’ Council, the Long Range Planning Committee, the Kindergarten Committee, as well as being a PTO officer of Hopewell Valley Central High School and Timberlane Middle School.
   She was a volunteer with the Mercer County CONTACT Crisis Hotline, a member of the local League of Women Voters and a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women. She introduced to the Mercer County Chapter of NCJW a peer support group for relocated women. She received the Hannah J. Solomon Award for community service.
   She is survived by her mother Elsie Kazin; children Michelle, Elise and David Spiro; a son-in-law, Michael Thorne; a daughter-in-law Crivenica Alam; a granddaughter Malia Thorne; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Philip (Susan) Kazin and Robert (Susan) Kazin.
   Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing Township.
   Burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery.
