Consolidated Fire Association’s Halloween Parade Committee is proud to announce that Marc Gutterson has been chosen as the grand marshal of this year’s parade. Marc Gutterson is best known as the founder of the Bordentown Community Soccer Association, which he started in 1969. He moved to Bordentown in 1956 after spending several years in France serving in the United States Air Force. He raised his five children in Bordentown and worked with IBM as a computer engineer.
His love of soccer encouraged him to pull together a team of 18 players to play teams in Hamilton. With Mr. Gutterson’s dedication the program grew, he found funding for uniforms, equipments and better fields. BCSA now has over 650 athletes a year. He can still be found at many BCSA soccer games as well as high school soccer games.
Mr. Gutterson has been involved with the Bordentown Elks Lodge for many years. He was also inducted in the Bordentown Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002-2003 for his devotion to the Bordentown community. He has shown his dedication to the youth of the Bordentown community for many years and for that reason the Consolidated Fire Association’s Halloween Parade Committee will be honoring Marc Gutterson.
This year’s Halloween Parade is Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. We are still in need of floats or marching units. You can register your group by calling Steve McGowan at 609-298-9328. Masqueraders will be judged outside of St Mary’s School at 1 p.m. the day of the parade. No registration is required, just come in your costume. Masqueraders can also walk in the parade after judging is completed. It’s not to early to start decorating for the House Decorating contest either. First and second prizes will be awarded. For questions about the House Decorating Contest, contact Jim Brimmer at 609-298-1686.
