BORDENTOWN — Elmer J. Bartolomei, 91, died Friday at the Clare Estates in Bordentown.
Born in Trenton, he was a longtime Hamilton resident moving to Ormond Beach, Fla. for 15 years. He returned to New Jersey where he lived at the Clare Estates Assisted Living for the past year.
Mr. Bartolomei was superintendent of the U.S. Post Office in Mercerville. He later moved to Station C at Independence Mall where he retired after 37 years of service. He received the Post Office Certificate of Award in 1972. He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic, Class of 1936, and a member of the National Association of Supervisors, American Legion, Bordentown Elks, Postal Employee Welfare, Holy Innocents Society and the National Association of Retarded Children. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Europe during World War II.
Son of the late Anthony and Anna Girard Bartolomei, husband of the late Irene, and father of the late Mark, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia “Cindy” and Kip Laurendeau; his grandsons, Bryan E. and his wife Jennifer Laurendeau and Michael J. Laurendeau; his great-granddaughter, Savanna; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Evelyn Bartolomei; also nieces and nephews including Thomas and his wife Joan Bartolomei, all of Hamilton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton. The burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
