Manville Recreation’s third and fourth grade soccer team pulled together for a 6-3 victory over Bridgewater on Saturday to make them 3-0 for the season.
Manville began scoring early on in the game with a goal by third-grader Antonio McFadden. His shot came off a pass from fourth-grader Ramon Quinonez.
Third-grader Marco Ortiz followed with a left-footed shot and McFadden quickly scored again. Bridgewater’s defense held strong until Ortiz came through with another goal to end the half at 4-0.
Bridgewater came on strong in the second half with a rally of three goals to close the gap 4-3. However, Quinonez put in two goals to finish the game at 6-3.
Quinonez’s first goal went in after a pass from fourth-grader Aaron Schlosser and his second connected with a pass from McFadden.
Fernando Ruiz, a fourth grader, played strong in the goal for Manville. He made several saves for his team including a high penalty shot.
Manville’s next game will be played on Saturday against the Bridgewater Penguins.
