On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters will hold its annual Candidates’ Night Forum for those running for seats on Hopewell Valley’s three municipal governing bodies.
The forum will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. in the TV studio at Hopewell Valley Central High School, Pennington-Titusville Road.
The public is invited to attend and ask questions of the candidates.
Four candidates are vying for two three-year terms on Pennington Borough Council. Democrats Glen Griffiths and Edwin “Weed” Tucker are seeking re-election. Their GOP challengers are Mark Blackwell and Stewart Schwab.
In Hopewell Township, newcomers Matthew Holley and Eileen McGinnis, Republicans, are challenging incumbent Democrats John Murphy and Vanessa Sandom for two Township Committee seats (three-year terms).
In Hopewell Borough, Republicans Robert Lewis and C. Schuyler “Sky” Morehouse are running unopposed to retain their seats on Borough Council.
At the forum, each candidate will have an opportunity to make opening and closing statements and then answer questions from the public. At the close of the program, residents will be able to meet informally with candidates.
The forum will be videotaped by high school students. It will be broadcast on Comcast cable channel 19. A schedule of broadcasts will be published in this newspaper in the coming weeks.
