Police are looking for a gunman who fired several shots into the air outside the Franklin Tavern on Franklin Corner Road early Saturday morning, according to police Lieutenant Charles B. Edgar.
Police received a call at 1:07 a.m. reporting a disturbance at the establishment, Lt. Edgar said. A second caller reported that gunshots were heard coming from the tavern. Several police officers responded to the scene and were later assisted by West Windsor Township police officers, he said.
When police arrived, they found 40 to 50 people gathered outside Franklin Tavern, Lt. Edgar said. Police learned that a social gathering had just concluded when the disturbance took place. Witnesses told police several gunshots were fired into the air, but no one was injured, he said.
”The incident remains an active investigation,” Lt. Edgar said. A description of the gunman was not available.
Anyone with information on the incident, which is being investigated by Patrolman Andrew Lee and Detective Sharon Micinski, should call the Lawrence Township Police Department at 896-1111 or 844-7134.
