Jacqueline Haun of The Lawrenceville School
To the editor:
Whether you are an experienced genealogist or just beginning to research your family tree, you are sure to get some useful tips from professional genealogist Casey Zahn and her presentation on “Getting Started In Genealogy” at the Lawrence Branch of the Mercer County Library at 2 p.m. on Nov. 16.
This popular 90- minute lecture will go over some of the prime traditional and Internet sources you can use to trace your roots.
Mrs. Zahn is a graduate of Davis & Elkins College and a teacher in the Robbinsville Township Schools. She has taught many adult classes about family history throughout New Jersey and in nearby states.
Mrs. Zahn was the 1997 recipient for the Governor’s Teacher of the Year for her school district, and authored two books, “All about My Family” and “Family News,” two teaching guides for grades K-6, published by the National Genealogical Society. She had two articles published in Heritage Quest Magazine (Nov/Dec 2003 issue). She is a fellow of the American History Institute for Education, a past trustee of the Genealogical Society of NJ and the program chair for the 2008 Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference held in Philadelphia.
In addition to Ms. Zahn’s presentation on Nov. 16, there will be a display on the historic families of Lawrence. We invite you to share your interesting family stories or photos of old Lawrence.
Light refreshments will be served. This program is present for free by The Lawrence Historical Society and The Friends of the Lawrence Library.
