Police Beat: From the Oct. 3 edition

East Windsor

   Victor M. Najera, 18, of The Orchard, was charged Tuesday with possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and theft.
   Police said they responded to the parking lot of the CVS pharmacy on Route 130 at 2 a.m. on a report of a man holding a knife. Police said they took the weapon, a 10-inch filet knife, which Mr. Najera had stolen from the Americana Diner across the street. He was taken to the Mercer County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

   A resident of Galileo Drive reported a burglary to an unoccupied residence and the theft of items inside Saturday. Police said someone removed a window screen from the ground floor, broke the glass window, entered, and stole cash and numerous pieces of jewelry between 6:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The amounts of cash and jewelry stolen had yet to be determined by the victim, according to police.

   Daniel Radgowski, 20, of Makefield Road, Morrisville, was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated. Police said they responded to a report of a motor-vehicle accident at 3:45 p.m. on Conover Road and found that Mr. Radgowski’s van had left the travel portion of the road and hit a utility pole on the westbound shoulder, breaking the pole.
   Police reported that Mr. Radgowski ran into the woods after the accident, but officers soon found him on Hickory Corner Road at Rembrandt Way. He failed field sobriety tests, police said, and posted $331 bail on a Lawrence motor vehicle warrant.
   Conover Road remained closed until about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, one residence was without power, and no injuries were reported, according to police. Police said additional charges against Mr. Radgowski were pending completion of the investigation.

   Angel Gonzalez, 20, of Renaissance Lane, New Brunswick; Luis Ruiz, 21, of North Third Avenue, New Brunswick; Ray Perez-Romero, 21, of Sanford Street, New Brunswick; and a 17-year-old boy of Hail Street, New Brunswick were charged Saturday with disorderly conduct. The Hail Street boy also was charged with resisting arrest.
   Police said they responded to the American Legion Hall on Route 130 at 11:30 p.m. on a report of a fight in the parking lot and found the above four people fighting. The boy tried to strike the arresting officer, police said.

   John R. Millard, 30, of Meadow Drive, was charged Sunday with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and criminal mischief. Police said a resident of the D building on Abbington Drive reported that someone broke the ground level apartment’s window and was asleep on the ground at 11:20 p.m.
   Police said they found Mr. Millard and determined that he broke the window and screen in an attempt to gain entry to the apartment, which he had mistaken for a friend’s, and then fell asleep on the ground. When the officer woke up Mr. Millard, police reported that he discarded a marijuana cigarette from his back pocket.

   William E. Pierce III, 19, of Old York Road, was charged Tuesday with shoplifting. Loss prevention personnel at the Target store on Princeton-Hightstown Road said they stopped Mr. Pierce at 1:40 p.m. after he hid two DVDs in a shopping bag and tried to leave the store, police said.

   A construction company representative reported that numerous sections of electrical wire which were already run in the wall were cut between 11:30 a.m. Sept. 25 and 11:15 a.m. Sept. 26 in a residence under construction on Aristotle Way. The estimated amount to repair and replace the wire was $1,000.

   The owner of a gray 2007 Subaru Impreza reported that both tires on the passenger side of the vehicle had been punctured while it was parked on Jamestown Road between 11 p.m. Sept. 25 and 3 p.m. Sept. 26.

   Two hubcaps were reported stolen from a red 2005 Nissan Murano while it was parked in the lot of Princeton Arms North 2 Apartments between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Hightstown

   Jame Arias-Contreras, 21, of East Windsor, was charged Sept. 26 with possession of fraudulent documents and several motor vehicle offenses. Police said they stopped him at 6:46 p.m. on Franklin Street after a random license plate check revealed an expired registration. Mr. Arias-Contreras gave officers a fraudulent Honduran driver’s license during the stop, police said.
   He also was charged with unlicensed driving, driving with touring privileges revoked, having an expired vehicle registration, failure to inspect vehicle and altering an inspection sticker.

   Joshua T. Poole, 26, of Mill Run East, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated. Police said they stopped him at 2:21 a.m. after they saw him talking on a cellphone while driving. Mr. Poole also was charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal turns, careless driving and refusal to submit breath samples.

   William Rodriguez-Bates, 20, of College Park, Md., was charged Sunday with consuming alcohol within a motor vehicle and underage possession of alcohol. Police said they stopped a car in which he was a passenger at 4:49 a.m. on Mercer Street after seeing Mr. Rodriguez-Bates with an open container of beer.

   Christopher Long, 24, of Jersey City, was charged Monday with hindering apprehension by giving false information and several other offenses.
   Police said they stopped his car at 3:35 a.m. in the Krauszer’s parking lot for having its right headlight out. Mr. Long told officers his name was Michael, but an investigation revealed his true identity, police said. He had outstanding warrants from Jersey City and East Orange for $666 and $500 respectively, according to police.
   Mr. Long also was charged with unlicensed driving, driving with a suspended license, making an improper turn, driving with a headlight out, failure to make repairs and contempt of court. He was turned over to The Jersey City Police Department in default of bail.

   Jerry Cohen, 53, of Elizabeth, was charged Monday with driving with a suspended license. Police said they stopped him at 10:01 p.m. on Franklin Street after a random license plate check revealed a $750 traffic warrant from Clifton.
   Security personnel from the Peddie School reported two laptop computers stolen from the Annenberg Hall Library between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26. Police valued the computers at $1,100 each.
   Police were investigating a reported burglary and theft Tuesday. At 5:25 p.m., officers responded to a call from the 300 block of Morrison Avenue. The victim reported that a 14-karat yellow gold tennis bracelet and two cameras, all of unknown value, went missing Monday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.
