Lawrence Road north of Province Line Road was closed for two hours Wednesday morning after a truck ran off the road and nearly struck a house at 6:29 a.m., according to police Sgt. Brian Calioaro.
Lawrence Road, which is also known as Route 206, was closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. so that a tow truck could remove the 2000 Mack truck from the front lawn of the house at 3725 Lawrence Road, Sgt. Calioaro said. Police waited until after the morning rush hour to close the road.
Truck driver Rufus Atkins, 37, of Philadelphia, was headed north on Lawrence Road when six deer ran across the road in front of his truck, Sgt. Calioaro said. Mr. Atkins swerved to avoid the deer and drove down the driveway. The truck missed the house by a few feet and struck a tree, he said.
The 2000 Mack truck belongs to Corporation Reber of Morrisville, Pa., Sgt. Calioaro said. The truck driver was on his way from Morrisville to Connecticut to pick up some cargo when the accident occurred.
No one was injured in the accident, Sgt. Calioaro said, adding that no summonses were issued.
