File for economic stimulus payment

Sy Larson, AARP state president
The $47 million in economic stimulus payments will go unclaimed in the Garden State unless an estimated 156,000 New Jerseyans claim their payment by the Oct. 15 deadline.
If you make over $3,000 in wages or qualifying income, you are eligible for a rebate check of at least $300. This check will not be taxed next year, and you never have to pay the money back.
And best of all, it only takes a few easy steps to get your check!
Eligible New Jerseyans simply need to file a “short form” IRS tax return by Oct. 15 to receive their economic stimulus payment.
If you need help filing an IRS tax return or need help accessing the appropriate forms, visit my Web site at http://menendez.senate.gov/ or contact the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at 800-906-9887.
File your forms today so we can ensure the remaining $47 million in economic stimulus payments go to the people who need it the most.
In these times of economic uncertainty, who couldn’t use a little extra money in their pocket?
