MARLBORO — The township has earned $710,000 by selling a plenary retail consumption license. The liquor license was sold to Marlboro resident Igor Maller.
According to a resolution passed by the Township Council, Maller’s bid was the only one received by Marlboro for the available license.
Maller has subsequently formed a New Jersey limited liability company with the name of Modern Star LLC, of which Maller will be the sole member.
The idea to sell a plenary retail consumption license (i.e., restaurant with a liquor license) came from a previous council meeting when a local developer spoke about a potential business use coming to the Triangle Business Park, Amboy Road, which would require a liquor license.
Township Council President Jeff Cantor asked if Maller was the interested party who would be creating that use at the business park.
Members of the administrations said they believed Maller was the individual who had been previously discussed.
