SOLEBURY — Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a white-haired man and the damaged red sedan he drove when he attempted to lure a 10-year-old boy with the offer of a dog.
The incident occurred Sept. 26, but the boy’s parents did not report it to police until Oct. 2, Chief Dominick Bellizzie said.
The incident came to light after the boy spotted the older sedan, with damage on the driver’s side, a second time in his neighborhood on Lower Mountain Road.
The first time the child encountered the man in the older red sedan in September, the boy had been returning home on the bus from New Hope-Solebury Elementary School at about 3:30 p.m.
The man offered the child a dog if he would get into the car. The boy fled to his house and told the babysitter. When the babysitter went outside to confront the man, where he was parked in the driveway, she saw a neighbor’s dog in the car.
The man, who sported a beard at the time of the incident, told the woman to hop in, and they could bring the dog back to the neighbor. She refused. He let the dog go and left.
Police are asking anyone who sees the man or the car to immediately call 911.
Information about the possible attempted abduction should be reported to Solebury detective Roy Ferrari at 215-297-8201, ext. 111.
