Mr. Hammerstone was born in Howell and was a lifelong Howell resident. He was a foreman for the Howell Township Public Works Dept. for 33 years retiring in 1992. Mr. Hammerstone was a member of the Ardena Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He was also a life associate member of the Adelphia Fire Company. He is predeceased by a brother, Oscar Hammerstone Jr., in 1992. He is survived by his wife Kathryn E. Hammerstone of Howell, NJ, a Daughter & Son-In-Law: Bonnie & Richard Mumpower of Howell, NJ and two Granddaughters: Patricia & Lauren.

Service Information: Visiting at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp., NJ on Sunday, October 5, 2008, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia, NJ.
