Even though there was no municipal tax increase this year and I believe relatively small ones the past several years, which would be a justification in itself, the more important reasons that I support the re-election of Carol Barrett, Charles Carley and Joe Camarota is their contributions to our quality of life in South Brunswick.
Over the years, there have been acquisitions, in one form or another, of 4,000 or so green acres land and about 600 acres of preserved farmland which includes the preservation of the Von Thun farm (one of my favorite places) and 200 acres of land from Princeton University that they supported our mayor in obtaining. There is the renovation of the Community Center at Woodlot Park, the beautiful Rowland Park, and Harvest Woods Park with its artificial turf.
There is the Smart Bus, which will be starting shortly and will eventually benefit both our senior citizens and our commuters.
There is of course my individual favorite, which is the South Brunswick Public Library. Without our Township Council’s personal donations and their support of our library, we would not have the beautiful facility that we do today. In fact, we are poised to complete the library’s lower level and prepare for the construction of a café with pledges by the Library Foundation and money obtained separately by the council.
It is for those reasons that I support the re-election Carol Barrett, Charles Carley and Joe Camarota.
