In support of taping meetings

To the editor:
As a strong advocate for consolidation of our local gover nments, I find it difficult to attend both municipal meetings at the same time.
For decades I have pushed Bodentown City to tape their meetings , with no success. While at city meetings I video tape everything I say. This protects me from false charges in court. What the minutes say is not always accurate or total in content. I find it interresting the zoning meeting at Carslake was recorded.
At Bordentown Township meetings, when I speak, I have the camera around my neck but have not recorded yet.
The government records request (OPRA) dated 9/23/08 from me to the Township said: "I request to see any and all documents the Township has regarding the use of cameras on or in municipal property."
A poor answer I received said, "Any other property or material that, in the manner it is used, could be capable of causing serious bodily injury."
I must conclude, there are no rules dealing with photagraphy on or in our municipal properties. Please beware— If you carry a camera in the municipal building you run the risk of being escorted out of town hall by four policemen and or being called in front of the judge to explain your use of your rights. I know by first hand experience.
