LHS battles in back-to-back overtimes

   The Lawrence High School field hockey team avoided a loss in back-to-back overtime games.
   The team edged Ewing in overtime on Tuesday after forcing a tie with Hun on Monday.
   The Cardinals defeated the Blue Devils, 2-1, with Lawrence scoring the game-winner in the second period of overtime after both teams tallied in the first half.
   Molly Sorensen scored and had an assist in the Lawrence victory. Niki Ikeda tallied as well, while Devon Harris had an assist.
   Jordan Montgomery made three saves to record the win in goal as the Cardinals out shot Ewing, 19-3.
   Montgomery made six saves and posted a shutout in regulation and in overtime as the Cardinals played the Raiders to a scoreless tie.
   Lawrence led in shots, 13-6, but could not get past Hun’s goalie, Taylor Landis-Miller, who made seven saves.
   Lawrence lost to Robbinsville, 3-1 on Saturday.
   Kaitlyn Martin scored Lawrence’s lone goal to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the first half.
   The Ravens (9-1) rallied with three goals in the second half while holding Lawrence scoreless.
   Montgomery made 12 saves as Robbinsville led in shots, 15-4.
   The Cardinals prevailed against West Windsor-Plainsboro South on Thursday with a second-half goal deciding the game.
   Ikeda tallied with an assist from Harris to give the Cardinals the advantage.
   Lawrence led in shots, 8-6, while Montgomery stopped five shots.
   Lawrence is scheduled to play Notre Dame tomorrow and Hightstown on Monday.
