Police Beat: From the Oct. 10 edition

Hightstown

   A 16-year-old Harron Avenue boy was charged Oct. 3 with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft of moveable property, and one count of tampering with evidence.
   Police said they responded at 11:55 a.m. to a report of a burglary at a residence in the 400 block of Stockton Street after a neighbor saw someone leave the residence and gave police a description. A search, which was assisted by the East Windsor Police Department, found a boy matching that description at the 7-Eleven on Dutch Neck Road.
   Police said the boy had a watch and three sodas in his possession and after being taken into custody he confessed to two burglaries from the 300 block of Morrison Avenue. All items taken in those burglaries were recovered and returned to the victims, police reported. The boy was released to his parents.

   William Oese, 20, of Kendall Park, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, use of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a CDS with intent to distribute, and numerous related charges. A 16-year-old Kendall Park boy also was charged with use of a CDS, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
   Police said they stopped Mr. Oese at 11:08 p.m. on North Main Street after seeing him drive through a red light at Franklin and North Main streets. Police reported detecting the odor of burnt marijuana, and seeing a pipe used to ingest the drug on the floor of the car. Police said they found two pipes, packaging materials, and nine baggies of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
   Mr. Oese also was charged with driving while intoxicated in a school zone, failure to observe a traffic signal, driving with an expired registration, careless driving, reckless driving, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and having CDS in a motor vehicle.

   A woman on Clover Lane reported at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 2 that employees from a Chicago moving company stole her $13,000 hot tub while moving her into her new Hightstown home.

   Someone entered the shed of a residence on the 100 block of Second Avenue between 3 p.m. Sept. 26 and 9 a.m. Oct. 1 and stole a tan and orange Tony Hawk BMX bicycle valued at $150.

   A 14-year-old East Windsor boy reported his MP3 music player stolen from Hightstown High School between 7:45 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. Tuesday. The player was described as a black and silver iPod with the boy’s name engraved on the back, and was valued at $245.

   Hojoung H. Thompson, 41, of Park Avenue, was taken into custody at her home at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 1 on a $300 Hightstown warrant.

   Jenith Gomez-Cardona, 36, of Berkley Place, East Windsor, turned herself in to police at 12:33 p.m. Sunday on a $190 Hightstown traffic warrant.

   Joshua T. Poole, 26, of Mill Run East, was charged Sept. 27 with driving while intoxicated. Police said they stopped him at 2:21 a.m. after they saw him talking on a cellphone while driving. Mr. Poole also was charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal turns, careless driving and refusal to submit breath samples.

   William Rodriguez-Bates, 20, of College Park, Md., was charged Sept. 28 with consuming alcohol within a motor vehicle and underage possession of alcohol. Police said they stopped a car in which he was a passenger at 4:49 a.m. on Mercer Street after seeing Mr. Rodriguez-Bates with an open container of beer.

   Jerry Cohen, 53, of Elizabeth, was charged Sept. 29 with driving with a suspended license. Police said they stopped him at 10:01 p.m. on Franklin Street after a random license plate check revealed a $750 traffic warrant from Clifton.

East Windsor

   Elizabeth A. O’Shaughnessy, 40, of Bolton Road, was charged Oct. 1 with child endangerment, driving while intoxicated with a juvenile passenger in the vehicle, and being under the influence of prescription medication.
   Police said she was driving on Twin Rivers Drive North and failed to negotiate the roadway, drove off of it and colliding with a tree at 5:30 p.m. No one was injured in the accident, according to police.
   Ms. O’Shaughnessy also was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and driving an uninsured vehicle.

   Andre A. Ward Jr., 18, of Windsor Commons, was charged Sunday with possession of prescription drugs, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription drugs not in their original container.
   Police said they responded to a report of two suspicious men near a car in the parking lot of building 106 of The Orchard at 9 p.m. Police reported finding Mr. Ward and another man next to a Ford Taurus, in which they found one small plastic baggie containing marijuana and another containing two prescription pills. Police said they determined Mr. Ward was the owner of the items and he was taken into custody. He was released on $7,500 bail.

   Ivan A. Cavieses, 21, of Covington Drive, was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and driving while intoxicated in a school zone.
   Police said they stopped Mr. Cavieses at 5 a.m. on Lake Drive after seeing him cross the center line while driving south and collide with an unoccupied pickup truck parked on the northbound side of the street.

   Casey J. Walton, 24, of Quailridge Drive was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, and failure to exhibit vehicle registration. Police said a vehicle at 1:30 a.m. on Route 130 near Town Center Road after seeing it weave from lane to lane.

   The owner of an orange 2008 Chevrolet Corvette reported that the vehicle sustained an estimated $15,000 in damage while it was parked in the building K lot on Avon Drive between midnight Oct. 1 and 4 p.m. Tuesday. The convertible top was cut, holes were made in the body of the car, and deep scratches were put in the paint along both sides and the hood. The owner’s silver 2006 BMW X5 was also parked in the lot and sustained scratches to the driver’s side door, causing an estimated $2,000 in damages.

   A black 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, valued at $20,900, was reported stolen from the lot of the Windsor Nissan Dealership on Route 130 between Aug. 11 and Oct. 3.

   A One Mile Road resident reported Oct. 3 the theft of a $2,500 sapphire diamond ring from the home’s bedroom between noon and 5 p.m. Sept. 16. Police said there was no evidence of burglary to the residence.

   Angel Gonzalez, 20, of Renaissance Lane, New Brunswick; Luis Ruiz, 21, of North Third Avenue, New Brunswick; Ray Perez-Romero, 21, of Sanford Street, New Brunswick; and a 17-year-old boy of Hail Street, New Brunswick were charged Sept. 27 with disorderly conduct. The Hail Street boy also was charged with resisting arrest.
   Police said they responded to the American Legion Hall on Route 130 at 11:30 p.m. on a report of a fight in the parking lot and found the above four people fighting. The boy tried to strike the arresting officer, police said.

   John R. Millard, 30, of Meadow Drive, was charged Sept. 28 with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and criminal mischief. Police said a resident of the D building on Abbington Drive reported that someone broke the ground level apartment’s window and was asleep on the ground at 11:20 p.m.
   Police said they found Mr. Millard and determined that he broke the window and screen in an attempt to gain entry to the apartment, which he had mistaken for a friend’s, and then fell asleep on the ground. When the officer woke up Mr. Millard, police reported that he discarded a marijuana cigarette from his back pocket.

   William E. Pierce III, 19, of Old York Road, was charged Sept. 30 with shoplifting. Loss prevention personnel at the Target store on Princeton-Hightstown Road said they stopped Mr. Pierce at 1:40 p.m. after he hid two DVDs in a shopping bag and tried to leave the store, police said.
