FOOTBALL
South Brunswick moved to 4-0 with a 27-17 win over East Brunswick, in which the Vikings had to overcome a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Consecutive touchdown runs by Tim Doehler and Justin McLendon pushed the Vikes ahead, and each player scored again to make it 27-17. The Bears got a late TD.
McClendon rushed for 112 yards on 15 carries, while Cody Shelcusky had 71 yards on three rushes. Mike Muha was 2-for-3 for 52 yards, with Dan Acevedo making both catches. Defensively, Devin Young had 14 tackles (nine unassisted), Pat Goldsmith eight, Rob Powers seven and Jimmy Mikedes six.
BOYS SOCCER
Shawn Tyree scored two goals to lead the Vikings to a 6-0 win over Woodbridge Saturday. Other goals came from Evan Beck, Bobby Tona, Mike Heyer and Walid Ahmed, while Kevin Gramata made four saves for the shutout.
Tyree scored off a pass from Tommy Huchko to give the Vikings a 3-2, double-overtime win over East Brunswick Monday, raising South’s record to 10-0-1 and clinching the top seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament. Kazuki Yamada and Patrick Harkness added goals, Huchko had two assists and Ahmed added one. Gramata made eight saves.

Sam Berk and Kelly Taikina had goals as the Vikings topped Old Bridge, 2-0, last Thursday. Rebecca Dahl made five saves for the shutout.
Corey Webb scored twice and Angie Goff added a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Piscataway Saturday. Dahl made 13 saves. The Vikes winning streak ended Monday when Sayreville rallied for a 3-2 win. Dahl had nine saves and Berk and Maggie Ford had goals while Webb notched an assist.
