BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — Kevin L. White, a 27-year-old Hopkinson Street resident, pleaded guilty Oct. 8 to stabbing a township woman in her apartment on Feb. 19, according to the Burlington County prosecutor’s office.
Mr. White entered the guilty plea to the attempted murder charge in front of Superior Court Judge James J. Morley. He faces a possible sentence of up to 15 years in prison, when he is sentenced on Nov. 21 by Judge Morley, authorities said.
According to a release from the prosecutor’s office, Mr. White had acknowledged in court that he stabbed Brenda Lanni, 51, inside her apartment at the Bradford Court apartments located off Route 130 in Bordentown Township.
Mr. White admitted in court that he had cut Ms. Lanni’s throat with the intent to kill her. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, no motive has been established.
A prosecutor’s office spokesman said earlier this year that Ms. Lanni’s 14-year-old son came home from school to find his mother lying on the kitchen floor injured. He immediately called 911, and Ms. Lanni was transported to Capital Health Systems Fuld Campus in Trenton, officials said.
While en route to the hospital, Ms. Lanni identified her attacker by name, officials said. He had frequently visited a friend across the hall from Ms. Lanni, according to officials.
Ms. Lanni had told the police that Mr. White was in her apartment with permission to use the phone and had suddenly attacked her without provocation.
Mr. White has been lodged in the Burlington County Jail on $250,000 bail since being charged immediately after the attack.
