Four local races contested

With the Nov. 4 election a mere 26 days away, candidates are gearing up for a number of contested races in the area.
Following is a list by town of candidates in local municipal elections, their party affiliation, and how many seats are open on the governing board.
Bordentown Township will see Democrats Stephen Monson and Jason Medina face incumbent Republicans Bruce Hill and Rob Delaney for two three-year seats on the Township Committee. Democrat Jim Cann and Republican Anita Di Mattia are running for an unexpired one-year seat.
In Chesterfield, only one seat on the Township Committee is open. Republican incumbent Larry Durr is running unopposed for that three-year seat.
Fieldsboro will see two three-year seats available on the Borough Council, with incumbent Democrats David Hansell and Harry Brown running unopposed.
In Mansfield, two three-year seats will be open on the Township Committee, with Republican incumbents Arthur Puglia and Kenneth Denti running unopposed.
New Hanover will see a contested election, with four candidates seeking two three-year seats on the Township Committee. Two Republican incumbents, George Ivins and Paul Peterla, will face two newcomers, Democrats Salvatore Schiano, Jr., and Michael C. Hill, Jr.
North Hanover will also see a contested election, with one three-year seat open on the Township Committee. Incumbent Republican Lou DeLorenzo will face Democrat Kim South.
In Springfield, two three-year seats will be open on the Township Council, with Democrat newcomer Roger Lord running against Republican incumbents John Hlubik and David Frank.
The last day to register to vote in New Jersey is Tuesday, Oct. 14.
