HILLSBOROUGH — A Branchburg resident is in fair condition after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle at the corner of River and Roycefield roads Monday morning.
Eric Holmlund, 33, of Branchburg, was attempting to make a left turn on his motorcycle onto Roycefield Road from River Road, when he collided with a vehicle being driven on River Road by George Qian, of Princeton, at 8:13 a.m.
Mr. Holmlund was airlifted by New Jersey State Police Medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, in New Brunswick.
Police said Mr. Holmlund was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a third vehicle as it turned from Roycefield Road onto River Road. Mr. Holmlund then landed near the side of a fourth vehicle.
The motorcycle itself, police said, slid underneath Mr. Qian’s vehicle and sustained extensive damage.
Lt. Bill Geary said an investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
Following the incident, Roycefield Road was closed between Dukes Parkway West and River Road, and River Road was closed between Raritan Borough and Beekman Lane. The areas remained closed for about three and a half hours while the scene was cleared and investigators processed the scene, Lt. Geary said.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
