Your local health food stores may become a thing of the past if Trenton has its way.
Under a new bill due to be voted on in the coming weeks, only medically trained, registered dieticians would be permitted to practice, lecture and educate the public on health foods and supplements, as well as weight loss nutrition.
Gone would be the days of seeking advise from your herbalist, or your acupuncturist, chiropractor and homeopaths, all due to this bill.
Such a bill upsets me greatly. Not only is it an infringement on our basic rights as Americans, it also makes one wonder why such a bill was proposed in the first place.
Dirty money, and corrupt politicians, who’s interests are not in the people they were elected to serve and represent, but on their own personal well being or political agenda.
What giant junk food retailer has stuffed millions of dollars into our assemblymen’s or senator’s pockets? What pharmaceutical giant has promised free bagels and pens to put people who practice natural medicine out of business? Or health food stores who offer its customers knowledge based on actual research, and years of experience in the field.
I can sympathize with someone that may be unsure of a herbalist, or an employee at a health food store, due to the lack of certification from the American Dietetic Association. However, what is a degree in medicine? Or a certificate? These individuals simply have a piece of paper that looks all neat and pretty sitting up on a wall.
But keep in mind that anyone in any medical field practices medicine. Not all treatments or advise works or is proven to be effective.
How many prescription medications have been recalled in the past for having negative results, or worse, causing cancer or other life threatening aliments? Do we put these people and companies out of business?
No, we sit back and wait for the next new drug to come out, with all the glitz and glamour, with free junk. This line of thinking has not only poisoned our bodies, but our minds with the assumption that everything needs a prescription.
I urge you to call Gov. Jon Corzine at 609-292-6000 and tell them that this bill is ridiculous and is all about more money going to people that have not earned it from doing any actual work.
