We need to get back to two-party rule in South Brunswick. We need John O’Sullivan and Steven Walrond on the council to be able to give us an honest answer.
For over the past 10 years the Democrats ruled the council. They continue to use smoke and mirrors to say they are doing great things for South Brunswick.
For example: the grant for nine new buses. Two years ago, just before election, they brought out the news that the town got a grant for nine new buses to take residents to train or bus stations. Two years later, no buses but they had a ribbon-cutting last week to again say the buses are here but they are not yet.
It was convenient, because it is just before election and a good time to use this as a campaign ploy. They think we do not remember or are too dense to know their tricks.
All but one route is now made public. There were no routes or plan up to now. And, when in doubt, hold up a senior as a benefit of a program. To say these buses would be used for the seniors is a joke.
The buses now in use, many times bring only two or three seniors on them to the center. Occasionally a bus may have eight or nine. Do the seniors need nine new buses to help transport them? I don’t think so.
There is still no true discussion of issues on the council. Carol Barrett said in response to this that they do not air their dirty laundry in public. And when asked where, there was no response. Because it is against the law.
The Obama sign is another example.
The sign was clearly breaking several regulations pertaining to political signs. When complaints were made, miraculously permits and etc. were filed and now the sign has been given the OK by the council’s attorney.
The sign is no big deal, God knows we have a lot of big signs around town, but it is the abuse of power that smells foul.
Their own fellow Democrat Debbie Johnson in a letter to the editor said we need a two-party voice on the council.
