Helen J. Falvey

   PRINCETON — Helen Jane Falvey died Monday at home. She was 89.
   Born in Ossining, N.Y., Mrs. Falvey resided in Ossining until 1948, when she and her husband moved to Connecticut. In 1958, she moved to Newtown, Conn., where she resided for 40 years. Four years ago, she moved to New Jersey to live closer to her son and daughter.
   In the 1930s and 1940s she worked in New York City for jewelry designer and craftsman Francisco Rebajes at his stores in Greenwich Village and Fifth Avenue.
   While in Newtown, Conn., she worked at The Connecticut Shop, Molly’s Flower Shop and Mrs. Anderson’s Food Store and was a personal secretary for a local resident. She also kept property records for George Cladis, who owned the property where she lived. For over 20 years, she worked for Dr. Lawrence Daum, a dentist in Newtown. In later years, she worked for another dentist, Dr. Steven Landen.
   Daughter of the late John and Margaret McCall Hoar, wife of the late Patrick Falvey and sister of the late Mary McCue, Margaret Meader, Agnes Henning and John Hoar, she is survived by her children, Susan Johnson of Princeton and Peter Falvey, of Lawrence; son-in-law Carl Johnson of Princeton; grandchildren Haleigh Johnson of Chicago and Peter Johnson of Princeton; nieces Betty Ann McCue Orlando of Ossining, N.Y. and Mary Jane McCue Mastroberardino and her husband Joseph of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; nephew Peter Henning and his wife Donna of New Milford, Conn. and Daytona Beach, Fla.; and dear friends Tom Quinn of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and the Orlowski sisters, formerly of Newtown, Conn.
   A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Oct. 25 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, Conn.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to The Princeton Hospice Memorial Fund, 253 Witherspoon St., Princeton, NJ 08540-9914 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
