BORDENTOWN CITY — The annual Bordentown Halloween Parade is scheduled for Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Due to roadwork on Second Street, the parade route will be changing this year.
Lineup for the parade will start on the corner of Spring Street and Elizabeth Street, the parade will continue down Elizabeth Street toward Second Street and make a right onto Second Street.
When the parade approaches the construction at the railroad bridge, the parade will make a left through the municipal parking lot next to The Farnsworth House; once through the parking lot, the parade will turn left onto Farnsworth Avenue and continue its traditional route.
It will move up Farnsworth Avenue to make a left onto East Union Street and continuing to make a left onto Crosswicks Street to the reviewing stand in front of Clare Estates. The parade will end by making a right onto Lafayette Street and back to Elizabeth Street.
Due to the roadwork, the parade will be about one block shorter. Those who normally watch the parade on Second Street past the railroad bridge, Park Street and Farnsworth Avenue past The Farnsworth House are encouraged to set up their lawn chairs in the municipal parking lot.
There will be no parking permitted along the parade route including the municipal parking lot the day of the parade.
Floats and marching units are still needed. You can register your group up until the day before the parade by calling Steve McGowan at 298-9328. Also, you still have time to decorate your house before the Halloween House Decorating Contest. Many houses in Bordentown City, Township and Fieldsboro have already started decorating; witches, spider webs, and pumpkins seem to be a favorite this year.
