Between the Lines: Library programs for October/November

The Burlington County Library Bordentown Branch Youth Services Department offers a variety of programs this summer. Registration is necessary for all programs. A Burlington County library card is required. Please note that registration begins two weeks prior to the date of the program.
    The address for the Bordentown Library is 18 East Union St., Bordentown. Registration can be done in person or by calling 609-298-0622. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
For children
    Chess Club — Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. for kids in 3rd grade and older. Come to the library for a “pick up” game of chess with your friends and neighbors. Bring your own chess set if you have one.
    Advanced Kids Knit — Wednesdays, Oct., 29, Nov. 5, 12, and 19 at 5:30 p.m. for kids ages 9 and older. You must already know how to cast on, knit and purl. Bring a pair of size 8 knitting needles that are 10 inches long. Registration is for all 6 sessions.
    Parent/Child Beginners’ Kids Knit — Mondays, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 5:30 p.m. Children in 4th grade and older, along with a parent (or other adult relationship) are invited to join us to learn the two basic knitting stitches. Bring a pair of 10-inch long knitting needles that are size 8 for each participant. We will supply the yarn. Registration is for all 6 sessions.
    Toddler Time — Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers ages 16-23 months. Bring your toddlers and join other mothers and caregivers for stories, songs, music, fingerplays and socialization activities.
    Halloween Storytime and Parade — Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 2-5 years old. You are invited to wear a “BOO”tiful costume and enjoy stories, songs and a fun parade.
    Chess Club — Wednesdays, Nov. 5 and 19 at 4 p.m. for ages 7 and older. Come to the library for a “pick up” game of chess with your friends and neighbors. Bring your own chess set if you have one.
    Grandparents Are Great — Wednesday, Nov. 12 or Thursday, Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 3-5 years old. You may sign up for either program. Join us for stories, songs and make a craft for a grandparent (or someone else you love.)
    Family Board Games — Thursday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. for kids 3 years and older. Come with your friends and families for an afternoon of brain power. Bring your favorite game or play one of ours.
    Kids Music Round With Kelly Golden — Friday, Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m. for babies ages birth to 4 years old. Join us for a fun-filled music program with singing, dancing and instruments.
    Time For Twos—I Love Nanny and Pop Pop — Tuesday, Nov.18 or Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 24-36 months. Come and enjoy stories, songs and fun craft.
    After School Craft — Thursday, Nov. 20 at 4:00pm for kids ages 8-12 years old. Get creative and crafty, and join the fun.
    Toddler Time — Friday, Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers ages 16-23 months. Join other mothers and caregivers for stories, songs, music, finger plays and socialization activities.
    Wii For Tweens — Saturday, Nov. 22 at 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 8-12 years old. We have Wii, so come and enjoy this interactive game system.
For adults
    Are you scared, nervous or frustrated about the current events in the market and the economy? You are not alone! The fact is that many people are confused about what is going on and worried about the future. The Bordentown Library will be presenting a free program on Saturday, Oct. 25 entitled: Surviving the Volatile Market. This program will be presented by Professor Ramesh Kajaria of Drexel University. Come and attend this one hour workshop to understand what is going on and ask questions that you want answers to. Get a clarification on what the ongoing turmoil in the financial world is all about.

    Our new Genealogy Workshop will be held monthly. If you are new to the world of genealogy and don’t know where to start, or if you are a seasoned researcher, join us for this informative evening. Each workshop will focus on a different genealogy topic. The October workshop will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 7 to 8 p.m.
    Knit a Hat — Wednesdays, Nov. 12 and Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. Learn how to knit a hat. This class is geared toward the beginning knitter, who knows how to cast on, knit and purl. Registration is for both sessions.
    Moms Night Out—Yoga and Relaxation — Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. This is your time for fun, so bring a mat or towel and join other moms for an evening of relaxation.
    The following basic computer classes are being offered at the Bordentown Library Technology Center:
    Word for Beginners will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Learn the basics of this popular word processing program. Find out how to create a simple document, edit and format text, correct spelling errors, and open and save files. Mouse skill is required.
    Publisher for Beginners will be offered on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. to noon. Learn the basics of this popular desktop publishing program. Create a document using pre-designed publications. Mouse skill is required. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word.
