The Princeton High football team is making a habit of late-game rallies.
For the second straight week, the Little Tigers dominated the fourth quarter and came away with a victory. Josh Gordon scored a pair of touchdowns, including one on a 99-yard screen pass from Connor Ryan, to help Princeton to a 26-7 win over Hopewell Valley on Saturday.
The win was the fifth straight for the Little Tigers, who improved to 5-1 overall.
Princeton trailed, 7-6, late in the third quarter when Gordon scored on a 66-yard touchdown run for a 12-6 lead. In the fourth quarter, Gordon scored again on the screen pass from Ryan to give the Little Tigers a 19-7 lead.
With Hopewell threatening to get back in the game, Gordon intercepted a pass in the end zone to set up a final Little Tiger touchdown, which came on a Ryan to DeQuan Holman pass play. Trevor Barsamian had scored the first touchdown for Princeton.
The Little Tigers are back in action on Saturday when they host Hightstown with hopes of winning for the sixth straight game. They close out the regular season with games at Notre Dame and WW-P South.
Montgomery also continued its winning ways, topping Warren Hills, 20-7, on Friday night. The win was the third straight for the Cougars, who improved to 4-2 on the season.
The Cougars scored first on a 46-yard touchdown run by Jon Gutman, who finished the game with 144 yards rushing. After Warren Hills drew even, 7-7, by halftime, the Cougars got a pair of second-half touchdowns for the win.
Andrew Singley scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter and Connor Oltmans scored on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Montgomery will host Somerville on Friday night as it looks for its fourth straight win.
The Hun School bounced back from its loss at Blair a week earlier to defeat Peddie, 25-0, on Saturday and improve to 4-2 on the season. Nick Williams ran for one touchdown and returned a punt for another for the Raiders, who also received 144 yards rushing and a touchdown from Donald Coleman.
Princeton Day School slipped to 1-5 with a 47-18 loss to Perkiomen on Saturday. Dennis Cannon ran for one touchdown and passed for another for the Panthers, who also received a touchdown run from Dylan Kelly.
