Countdown to parade day in Bordentown City

The Bordentown Halloween Parade is this Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. You can register your float or marching unit up until this Saturday before the parade by calling Steve McGowan at 298-9328.
Everyone’s favorites are back, such as the Bordentown Elks, Bordentown Township Senior Citizens, the Garrett Family and the Bordentown Home for Funerals as well as new comers such as Chesterfield Veterinary Clinic, Bordentown Township Veterans and Florence Family Fitness.
Many Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops from Bordentown, Columbus and Florence will be dressing up to be part of floats. The Consolidated Fire Association parade committee has also confirmed an appearance of the Jersey Devil in the parade. The bands for this year’s parade are Bordentown Regional High School Band, New Egypt High School Band, Liberty Band, and Baltimore Westsiders and many more. Also Reilly’s Raiders will be joining us again. Reilly’s Raiders join us from Willow Grove, Pa. every year and have been marching in the Halloween Parade for several years now.
Marc Gutterson, our 2008 Grand Marshall will be riding in the front of the parade. Mr Gutterson created the Bordentown Community Soccer Association and brought soccer to Bordentown. His program is still going strong with a dedicated board of trustees and over 600 players each year.
Please remember that the parade route has been changed to accommodate the road construction on Second Street.
Masquerades will be judged in front of St Mary’s School at 1 p.m. Judging will take place before the parade begins and masquerades will have the choice to enter the parade and walk the parade route. Cash prizes for children, adult and group costumes will be handed out before the parade.
Many houses in Bordentown City, Township and Fieldsboro are already decorated for Halloween, but you still have time to join in the House Decorating contest. Houses will be judged in the days before the parade. Thompson Street has become a popular attraction in the city.
There are also many houses decorated along Route 206, the Tree Streets and inside Meadow Run and Crystal Lake. The Campbell resident’s on the corner of Willow Road and Cherry Lane in Bordentown Township, have their entire yard decorated with Halloween inflatable characters and orange lights. Take a moment to drive or walk around the area and look at the hard work the community has put into make Bordentown a festive neighborhood for Halloween.
The Consolidated Fire Association parade committee would like to remind all parade participates that politics and campaigning are not permitted in the parade.
