Molnar allied with critics

Pat Masterson of West Amwell
In his letter last week, Rob Tomenchok complained his friend, Tom Molnar, had been “unfairly characterized.”
As someone who has watched events in West Amwell for the last several years, this puzzled me.
Mr. Molnar did work well with Ron Shapella when they served together on the Township Committee a few years ago. Tom Molnar supported several measures that are now on the books to protect our rural community.
For taking that stand, he and Mr. Shapella withstood heavy criticism from several people, among them two former committeemen, who seem to want few, if any, restrictions on how development takes place in West Amwell.
But sometime during the last hearing, Mr. Molnar decided to align himself with that very group, the same people who once criticized him publicly for the views he held! So how can we be sure what views Tom Molnar holds now?
Ron Shapella has been consistent and has not wavered in his support for protection for our woodlands and streams, not to mention his successful effort to remove West Amwell’s sewer service area.
Can Tom Molnar and his friend have things both ways — to protest being linked to West Amwell’s pro-development people when, in fact, they have made themselves allies of that group?
One thing I’m clear about is where Ron Shapella stands. He takes his job as committeeman seriously.
He is out among the people, campaigning, making his views known and listening to the public.
Ron Shapella gets my vote for Township Committee on Nov. 4.
For the sake of our township, I urge you to do the same.
