John Kirkenir, 78, of Monroe, died Thursday, Oct. 16, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Paterson, Mr. Kirkenir was a resident of Wyckoff for many years prior to moving to Concordia 16 years ago. He was retired from Bergen County Road Department after more the 25 years of service.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury and was President of the Christian Fellowship Club at Concordia. He was a Mason with Fidelity Lodge No. 113 F&AM Ridgewood. Mr. Kirkenir was an avid fisherman, golfer and hunter and loved traveling with his wife.
Mr. Kirkenir is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucille (Berberian) Kirkenir; his son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Brenda Kirkenir of Cranbury; his brother, Henry Kirkenir of Wyckoff; three grandsons, John D. and his wife, Amanda, David and Joseph; and his great-grandson, John A. “Jak.”
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 18, from the A.S. Cole Son & Co. Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Cranbury. Interment followed in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury.
