Nov. 2 concert to observe Kristallnacht

A concert with the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht will be held 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

Kristallnacht, or “The Night of Broken Glass,” took place Nov. 9, 1938. More than one thousand synagogues were destroyed and tens of thousands of Jewish businesses and homes were ransacked. It marked the beginning of the chain of events that led to the Holocaust.

In a tribute to European Jewry and their continuing inspiration, Makhelat Anshe Emet will join with the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, singing works of Barash, Janowski, Weill and Bernstein. The New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra is directed by Mark Trautman, former organist at Anshe Emeth.

Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for seniors and students
