We would urge all South Brunswick voters to support the re-election of Councilwoman and Deputy Mayor Carol Barrett, Councilman Charlie Carley and Councilman Joe Camarota on Nov. 4.
Ms. Barrett, Mr. Carley and Mr. Camarota have recognized the financial strain that the current economy has placed on all of us. They worked diligently with us to provide a zero increase in the municipal budget portion of your tax bill. They have worked to reduce the size of government and have kept our municipal budgets at or below the rate of inflation, something very few towns in New Jersey have been able to do. At the same time, Carol, Charlie and Joe have worked to increase the number of acres in our Open Space program, and the number of acres available for parks and recreation, including a new skateboard park and a needed refurbishment for our Community Center. They supported the mayor’s initiative which led to the creation of the 200-acre Mapleton Preserve in Kingston, as well as supporting the necessary expansion of our library.
Carol, Charlie and Joe have recognized the need to ensure public safety. They have worked hard to listen to your concerns and have relayed those concerns to our township manager and our police chief in terms of residents telling us that we needed an increase in visible patrol and an aggressive approach to traffic issues on our roadways. Thanks to the dedication of our police department we have seen a 24 percent reduction in crime.
Carol, Charlie and Joe have supported necessary improvements to our infrastructure and have continued with both our in-house re-paving program of our roadways, as well as roadway improvements in older sections of our township. We have worked with our school community through our shared services program and have been able to save the taxpayers over $100,000 by using our Department of Public Works in-house ability for paving programs. South Brunswick Democrats are aggressively seeking out county, state and Federal grants and have been successful in landing over $11 million to begin our SMART Inter-Municipal Bus Service and to prod the state into beginning necessary Route 1 improvements. We continue to look for ways to protect our environment, having one of the top recycling programs in the state, purchasing hybrid vehicles for our township fleet, and are looking to reduce the environmental footprint of our municipal buildings.
Carol, Charlie and Joe let our state and county officials know loud and clear of their support for our ongoing attempt to preserve the over 200-acre Van Dyke/Pulda Farm. We would not have been able to get that project off the proposed development table and onto the negotiating table for Open Space without their support. These things do not happen without a lot of hard work and dedication. Ms Barrett, Mr. Carley and Mr. Camarota are hard working, dedicated people who will always listen to your concerns and will always try to do their best to make government in South Brunswick responsive and mindful of your budget while still providing a high level of services.
Please join us supporting their re-election.

Christopher Killmurray, councilman, of Dayton
