Bordentown City Halloween parade results announced

BORDENTOWN CITY — The 2008 Halloween Parade saw everything from witches on motorized coolers to pirate ships and the Jersey Devil on Sunday. The event encompassed a number of competitions, the winners of which have been announced.
    In the parade itself, awards were given in a number of categories. The first-place business float belonged to The Hob and second place went to Chesterfield Veterinary Clinic. In adult floats, the Bordentown Elks came in first and Rotary Club came in second, and for youth floats, Cub Scout Pack 72 were first-place winners and the Girl Scouts with Bordentown Home for Funerals took second place.
    Bordentown Bulldogs football and cheerleaders came in first for marching groups, while the Florence Township MOMS Club came in second.
    And special judges’ awards went to the Garrett family float, the Dalmatian Girl Scouts, the 12-year-old Little League champs, Bordentown Township Senior Citizens and Hamilton PAL Twirlers.
    Tied for first place in the house-decorating contest were Louis and Joan Clugsten of Marshall Drive and Larry and Janet Denney of Prince Street. Jane Letts of Castle Court came in second, Deborah Ferguson and Wayne Ulmer of Edgewood Road were third, and James and Sharon Scully of Willow Street earned fourth place.
    The masquerade saw numerous entries, and awards went to various categories of children, families and adults. For prettiest child costume, Bordentown residents Nina Guidotti (as Lil Bo Peep), Falsena Negne (as Dorothy), and Jocelyn Codey (as Little Miss Muffet) took first, second and third place, respectively.
    Michael Korsak of Bordentown dressed as a pirate for first place in the scariest child category, and Joelle Korsak of Bordentown went as Medusa and won second place.
    Most original child costumes were Salvatore Mazzella of Hamilton, who earned first place as Thomas the Tank Engine, and Bailey Mollan of Roebling, who took second place as a candy machine. Brawn Rowley of Bordentown earned first place in the adult original category with a french fries costume.In the family category, Carol and Julianna Junz of Bordentown took a prize as witches, and so did Riley Alvarado and Kara Parker of Bordentown, who dressed as fairies. Bordentown Girl Scout troops 24317 and 22431 won a prize for best group with their Dalmatian costumes.
    Finally, Florence residents Zachary and RJ Soban earned first and second place judges’ special prizes, respectively, for dressing up as the Scarecrow.
