Campaign signs inspire response

Carole Cann, Bordentown Township
To the editor:
Editor’s note: this letter refers to letters dating back to May 8, 15 and 22 from Stephen Turgyan, former Bordentown Township Mayor George Chidley, and from the letter-writer herself.
One cannot help but notice how Mr. Hill and Mr. Delaney have wallpapered the township with their campaign signs once again this election season. It is truly an expression of free speech that we all cherish, but it seems that this right may apply to their supporters only.
I hope that residents of our township will remember that last year Stephen Turgyan, Bordentown’s last farmer, had allowed the opposing candidate to erect a campaign sign on his property. Not only did our Township Committee renege on the last year of an agreement with Mr. Turgyan to lease township land, farmland purchased with Bordentown Township taxpayers’ money, but they awarded the lease to a farmer that does not even live in our county, let alone our township.
While the Republican candidates continue to impress us with their remarkable display of signage, we need to remember the votes they cast against an honest, hard-working community member, causing Mr. Turgyan, a benevolent lifelong resident, considerable financial harm.
