South Brunswick residents will head to the polls on Tuesday and cast ballots for candidates on the local, county, state and national level.
Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. throughout the township. Anyone on line at a polling place before 8 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.
On the local level, three Democratic incumbents — Carol Barrett, Joe Camarota and Charlie Carley — are defending their seats on the Township Council against first-time Republican challengers John O’Sullivan and Steve Walrond. They are seeking three four-year terms on the council.
On the ballot for president of the United States will be Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, and Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party, Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party, Roger Calero of the Socialist Workers Party, Gloria LaRiva of the Party of Socialism and Liberation, Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party, Brian Moore of the Socialist Party USA, and independent candidates Ralph Nader and Jeffery Boss.
The candidates for U.S. Senate are Democratic incumbent Frank Lautenberg, Republican Dick Zimmer, Sara Lobman of the Socialist Party of New Jersey, Jason Scheurer of the New Jersey Libertarian Party, and independents Jeffery Boss, Daryl Mikell Brooks, and J.M. Carter.
On the ballot for the 12th Congressional District are Democratic incumbent Rush Holt, Republican Alan Bateman and independent David Corsi.
Democrats David Crabiel and Millie Scott will be vying with Republicans Lynda Woods-Cleary, of South Brunswick, and Daniel Kerwin for two, three-year seats on the Middlesex County Board of Freeholders. Democrat Ronald Rios and Republican Robert Thuring will be competing for a one-year seat on the freeholder board.
The polling places are:
— Districts 1, 4 and 29: Indian Fields School, 359 Ridge Road;
— Districts 2, 19 and 20: Monmouth Junction Firehouse, 573 Ridge Road;
— District 3: Kingston First Aid building, 4280 Route 27;
— Districts 5, 6, 8, 9 and 16: South Brunswick Community Center, 124 New Road;
— Districts 7, 10 and 24: Constable School, 29 Constable Road;
— Districts 11 and 12: Brunswick Acres School, 41 Kory Drive;
— Districts 13, 15, 23 and 30: South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road;
— Districts 14, 17 and 28: Crossroads South Middle School, 195 Major Road;
— Districts 18, 21 and 22: Kendall Park First Aid/Fire Substation, 95 Henderson Road;
— Districts 25, 26 and 27: South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road.
