Breaking: Voters give Jamesburg library a reprieve

Democrats sweep council

By Davy James, Staff Writer
Jamesburg voters want to keep the borough’s public library open.
A ballot question asking voters to deauthorize the library, which would have been followed with an interlocal agreement with Monroe to provide library services, was defeated 959-564.
Incumbent Borough Councilman Otto Kostbar was the top vote-getter, winning re-election with 1,035 votes. Daria Ludas, who replaced Tom Bodall Jr. on the ballot when the councilman resigned his seat earlier this year, was elected with 1,004 votes. Their victories maintain a 6-0 Democratic majority.
Brian Duke, the lone Republican on the ballot, garnered 810 votes.
