Bruce Currie of C.A. Niece Lumber Co.
A local business man and taxpayer, John Zerrer, wrote an eloquent observation to the city management about the effects of the metered parking program on the citizens and visitors to Lambertville.
I could not put it into words better myself and hope that the mayor and his council members will take into account the effect of oppressive rates and enforcement on the visitors to our CBD and the locals who use them as well.
Metered parking until 9 p.m.? If you go out to dinner to one of our great area restaurants, there is a good chance you are going to win yourself a ticket; great customer relations.
At Niece’s, in fact, we offer our open parking in the evenings to locals and visitors who frequent uptown eateries in the spirit of being a good neighbor and citizen.
With gas prices the way they are, this would be a perfect opportunity to implore people to shop in town and not at the malls or other towns. How about bagging the meters the rest of the year?
Put the meter maid on crossing guard at Bridge and Union to help our visitors cross the street.
