   Manville High School Class of 1998 will celebrate its 10-year reunion. The reunion will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 29 at Mia Sorella Restaurant on Main Street in Manville.    Calling all grandparents: A grandparents’ support group is now forming for any interested grandparent. It will encompass areas such as lack of contact, estrangement, general grand parenting issues and other topics of interest to the group. If you are a grandparent and are interested in sharing concerns with others, call Counseling and Therapy Services weekdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 218-9062.

   Single Mothers Helping Single Mothers A new support group for single mothers meets at Chuck E. Cheese, Bridgewater Promenade this evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 707-4651.
   Somerville-Raritan-Manville Health Department flu clinics for all adults ages 18 and older. The flu shots are free for older adults with traditional Medicare Part B (bring your Medicare card), not HMO/Managed Care Medicare. For all other adults, a flu shot is $25. A flu clinic will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the Somerville Senior Citizen Building. Appointments are not necessary. For details on insurance coverage costs, call 725-2300 ext. 1982.

   The final performances of Somerset Valley Players presentation of “Angel Street”are 8 p.m. today and tomorrow, and 3 p.m. Sunday. The play was the basis of the Hollywood classic movie “Gaslight.” Tickets are $14; seniors and students $12. For reservations, call 908-369-7469.
Saturday, Nov. 8
   Christ the King School in Manville will hold a clothing drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the school.
   The indoor flea market sponsored by the Hillsborough (Flagtown) Volunteer Fire Co. no. 1 Ladies Auxiliary will be held at the Hillsborough Township Municipal Complex, 379 South Branch Road. For information, 908-369-4811.
   A meeting of The Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group takes place at 11 a.m. today at Open Arms Day Club, 195 W. High St., Somerville.
   The Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group meets on the second Saturday and third Wednesday of each month at Open Arms Day Club, 195 W. High Street, Somerville. Saturday meetings begin at 11 a.m. and Wednesday meetings are 7 p.m. Meetings are open to the public. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. Sunday, Nov. 9
   Thomas Kavanaugh Post 2290 VFW will host the annual Veterans Day Remembrance Services and Breakfast. The day’s events begin at 8:30 a.m. with Mass at Sacred Heart Church, followed by the Remembrance Services and breakfast at the post on Washington Avenue, set to begin at 10 a.m. The services are open to the public and free, but a $5 donation is requested for the breakfast. Tickets are available at the post.
Monday, Nov 10
   Manville Borough Council meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Manville municipal courtroom.
   Auditions for the Somerset Valley Players production of “Plaza Suite” will be held 7 p.m. at the theater, 689 Amwell Road, today and tomorrow. Roles include seven men and eight women, ages 18-50.    There will be a Manville Board of Education work session at 7:30 p.m. at ABIS Media Center.
Wednesday, Nov. 12
   The Borough of Manville Zoning Board of Adjustment meets at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal courtroom.
   A Slavic Dinner, sponsored by St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, Brooks Boulevard, Hillsborough, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. in the St. Mary Parish Center. The cost is $11 for adults (ages 9 and up), and $5 for children 8 and under. The all-you-can-eat dinner includes pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, salad, dessert and beverage. Orders to go are available.    Dinners are held on the second Wednesday of each month throughout the year. The December dinner will be Dec. 10.
Looking ahead
   Reach for the Stars Basket Auction, sponsored by the Manville Education Foundation, will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the VFW. Refreshments and door prizes will be offered – must be 18. Tickets are $15 each, includes one sheet of free tickets. No tickets will be sold at the door. Advanced tickets available at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the high school library, or call 526-5568 or 575-9610.
   The Manville Fire Company no. 3 Ladies Auxiliary is now taking orders for their annual Christmas wreath and pointsettia fundraiser. Fresh wreaths and pointsettias of various sizes and colors are available. Place orders early to assure delivery in time for your needs. No orders will be taken after Nov. 15.    St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 1900 Brooks Blvd., Hillsborough, will sponsor a beginners’ level iconography workshop for adults, to be held the weekend of Nov. 14-16. The workshop will be presented by Marylyn Barone, a noted Pittsburgh icongrapher who studied with master iconographer, Philip Zimmerman. Those attending the workshop will write an icon on an 8-by-10 inch, gesso-covered board. The subject will be St. Nicholas of Myra wearing his bishop miter. Participants will learn techniques for faces, garments, gilding and background.
   The theology of iconography and aspects of St. Nicholas’ life will be presented. The class will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov 15; and times are to be determined for Sunday, Nov. 16. There is an opportunity for Saturday Vigil Liturgy at 4 p.m.; or Sunday Liturgy at 8:30 or 11 a.m. The cost of $100 will cover all supplies: gesso board, paints, brushes, gold leaf, polyurethane and miscellaneous supplies. A lunch will be provided Saturday, as well as coffee and tea on all days. There will be pastries Saturday and Sunday mornings. The class is limited to 20 participants. Pre-registration and a $25 deposit are required.

   Neshanic Garden Club will hold the monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station. Wini Applegate, former president of the Garden Club of New Jersey, will demonstrate beautiful designs for the coming holidays. She will also speak on environmental issues.    St. Ann School in Raritan will hold its Sports Card and Collectibles Show from 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29.    The Peter Mayer Group will perform a Holiday Concert “Stars and Promises Alive” Dec. 5, at the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling 908-725-2313.
   Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Peter Mayer, formerly one of Jimmy Buffett’s lead guitarists, will donate a portion of all proceeds for equal distribution among three local organizations: the North Branch Reformed Church, the United Reformed Church and Middle Earth.    The Neshanic Garden Club Greens Workshop will take place from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Hillsborough municipal building. Participants may craft one of the following: a door wreath, a tabletop boxwood tree, a basket centerpiece with candles, or a topiary.
