On Nov. 8 at noon, the Spotswood Public Library will host Saul Broudy, folksinger and folklorist, as he presents his program, “Oh, You Saigon Girls, Can’t You Dance the Polka!”
Broudy collected songs from helicopter pilots during his tour of duty with the U.S. Army, and went on to analyze them at Penn’s graduate program in folklore. Through song and discussion, Broudy will explain the role songs and other folklore played in military life in Vietnam and how they reflected everyday life “in country.”
This free program is offered through the horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. Refreshments will be served and reservations are recommended. All are welcome. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 732- 251-1515.
