Jamesburg keeps its library

Saying that a state law has prompted unwarranted increases in the cost of running the borough library, Jamesburg officials asked voters on Tuesday for permission to close the facility.

The answer was a resounding “no.”

Residents cast 959 ballots in favor of continuing funding for the library, while 564 voted to cease the operation.

Borough officials had said that continuing the library will force them to cut other areas of the municipal budget. Residents would be able to use Monroe’s library, if Jamesburg’s was closed.
