GIRLS SOCCER

The Lawrence High School girls soccer team ended its season excitingly.
Adrian Glass kicked in the Cardinals’ final goal of the season as Lawrence edged Allentown in overtime last Wednesday.
”We definitely out-chanced them quite a bit,” said Lawrence coah Dave Boggs. “Adrian finally burried one to win.”
Glass scored the game’s lone goal with an assist from Nikki Tracy.
Lawrence’s Nicole Krawczyk made four saves and Nicole Eversberg stopped five shots while tending the Cardinals’ goal in the shutout.
The Cardinals were able to end their season positively after a few tough losses.
”It was a nice way to go out,” said Boggs. “We had lost quite a few in a row, so it was good to get back on the winning side.”
Lawrence finished the season 5-11 and remained competitive throughout the season, though a few unfortunate losses kept them out of the NJSIAA postseason and Hopewell eliminated the Cardinals from contention in the Mercer County Tournament.
”It was a challenging year,” said Boggs. “I think we had good chemistry and a group that worked hard. We had a few games, like Hamilton, Ewing and Princeton, that were close. Maybe if one of those games wnet our way it would have built up our confidence.”
Even in the losses, Lawrence stayed competitive with a strong defensive effort.
”We definitely played better defensively,” said Boggs. “Sophomore Sarah Borjakiewcz, our sweeper, added a lot to the team.”
Lawrence had 14 players return for this season, which helped the team’s chemistry and kept the Cardinals close. While Lawrence won’t have as many back next season, there are some core players returning for the Cardinals.
The Lawrence seniors this year were Lauren Alexander, Anna Brownschidle, Liz Darbee, Molly Goodell, Jen Korngut, Nicole Krawczyk Orla O’Sullivan-Roche, Lauren Raymond and Annie Turkowski.
Lawrence earned a special honor as Rachel Darbee was selected to the Mercer County 33 team.
