TRENTON — Santo P. Cileo, 91, died Oct. 28 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Trenton, Mr. Cileo was a lifelong area resident.
He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, and survivor of the U.S.S. Block Island. He retired from General Motors in West Trenton after working for over 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Bordentown Elks BPOE Lodge 2085, a former member of the Sons of Italy, the Italian American Sportsmen’s Club, and the VFW Post 3525. Mr. Cileo was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Trenton.
Son of the late Domenico and Erminia Speranza Cileo and brother of the late Frank and Anthony Cileo, and John Cilio; he is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jennie DiStefano Cileo; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Robert Zarrilli of Hamilton, Constance and Joseph Otter of Punta Gorda, FL, and Carmela and Richard Osif of Bordentown; a son and daughter-in-law, Dominick and Bertha Cileo of Hobart, NY; four grandchildren, Lisa Zarrilli, Dana and her husband Brian Curtis, Michele and her husband Dave Barker, and Kevin Osif; six great-grandchildren, Jason, Jeffrey, Lindsay, T.J., Gabrielle and Zachary; a sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Joseph Breza of Hamilton; brother-in-law, Ralph DiStefano of Melbourne, FL; sisters-in-law, Louise Cilio and Rose Cileo; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held 8 a.m. Monday at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church, Trenton. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cedar Lane, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
