Township non-union employees in line for 3-percent raises

EAST WINDSOR — Nonunion township employees are in line for 3 percent raises next year, the same amount they’ve received for at least the past two years.
The Township Council on Wednesday unanimously introduced an ordinance that establishes the salaries for those workers for 2009.
It affects about 55 township employees, Mayor Mironov said. And it includes positions such as township manager, chief financial officer, public works director, clerk, council members, recreation employees, and probationary policemen.
One employee who would not be getting a raise right away is Township Manager Alan Fisher.
His salary increases are determined by periodic performance reviews from the council, Mayor Mironov explained.
Currently Mr. Fisher makes $123,839 annually, according to township records.
Top salaries include Chief Financial Officer Margaret Gorman, who would make $98,404; Public Works Director William Askenstedt, whose salary would rise to $95,259; and municipal Judge James Stahl, who would earn $66,353.
The mayor and other council members’ part-time salaries would rise to $10,706.
The council set the public hearing on the ordinance for its Dec. 2 meeting.
