The owner of a red 2007 Ford Fusion told police her car twice sustained deep scratches to the paint while parked in the lot of the H building on Abbington Drive, first overnight between Oct. 31 and Saturday, and then between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
Nancy Bradley, 42, of Route 130, was charged Oct. 29 with possession of prescription drugs in an invalid container, being under the influence of prescription drugs, driving while intoxicated, and several related violations.
Police said Ms. Bradley struck a parked, unoccupied pickup truck at 7:05 a.m. at the Wawa on Hickory Corner Road while attempting to park. Several witnesses said she had been driving erratically just before the accident, according to police.
Other charges against Ms. Bradley included reckless driving, and careless driving.
A tan 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass was reported stolen from the parking lot of the Shop Rite on Route 130 between 12:45 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Oct. 31.
Someone smashed the side window of a gold 2007 BMW while it was parked at Windsor Corporate Office Park and reportedly stole a Garmin Nuvi GPS, valued at $600, from inside the vehicle between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
Stacey Swangler, 42, of Oak Lane, Hightstown, was charged Saturday with shoplifting, obstruction of government function, and hindering apprehension. Police said she concealed groceries valued at $118.21 in a bag and left the Shop Rite on Route 130 without paying at 8 p.m. After being taken into custody, Ms. Swangler provided a false name and Social Security number to the arresting officer, police reported.
Charles Cook, 20, of Newark, was charged Nov. 3 with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped him at 11:40 a.m. at the McDonald’s on Route 130 after seeing him pull into the parking lot with no license plates, and found he was hiding an orange juice bottle containing a marijuana-filled cigar in his pants pocket.
David Switalski, 47, of Edison, was charged Oct. 26 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and obstructing the flow of traffic. Police said they found him stopped at 3 p.m. in the left lane of Route 130 at Hickory Corner Road. Upon approaching him, police said they found Mr. Switalski disoriented, unsure of where he was headed or from where he was coming.
Kojo Quansah, 45, of The Orchard, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane of travel, and failure to display registration and insurance cards. Police said they stopped him at 1:50 a.m. on Route 130 after seeing him weave in the lane while near Town Center Road.
Edward J. Scully, 47, of Ashley Court, was charged Oct. 31 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to stop for a stop sign. Police said they stopped him at 11 p.m. on Old York Road after seeing him ignore two stop signs, first when turning onto Conover Road from Wendover Road, and then when turning onto Old York Road.
A 14-year-old boy of Stockton Street, Hightstown, and a 15-year-old girl, of Hope Valley Road, were charged Oct. 31 with underage possession of alcohol. Police said they responded to a report of underage alcohol consumption at 9 p.m. on Stonehedge Drive and found the two in a driveway, each with a bottle of vodka.
Stewart Walker, 56, of Lakewood, was charged Monday with shoplifting. Police said he attempted to leave the CVS Pharmacy on Abbington Drive at 9:50 a.m. without paying for $27.40 in hair products.
Janet Ann McDonald, 51, of Plainsboro, was charged Oct. 30 with shoplifting. Police said she tried to leave the Shop Rite on Route 130 at 1:30 p.m. with a shopping cart full of groceries for which she did not pay, and succeeded in leaving the store with two packs of cigarettes, with a total value of $15. She was seen leaving the parking lot as a passenger and taken into custody at her residence a short time later, police reported, and one of the packs of cigarettes was recovered.
The paint on the passenger and driver sides of a blue 2005 Chrysler Pacifica sustained deep scratches between 4 p.m. Oct. 31 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday while parked on Covington Drive, causing damage estimated at $500.
Hightstown
Susan K. Girard, 41, of Monmouth Junction, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated with juveniles in a vehicle, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and several related violations.
Police said they responded to a report of an intoxicated driver at 9:37 a.m. on Oak Lane. Ms. Girard had as passengers her two children, a 10 year old and a 17 year old, police reported. She failed field sobriety tests and was given a drug recognition evaluation at police headquarters, where she was found to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, according to police.
Ms. Girard also was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, and driving with expired registration.
Mattias Hjalmarsson, 34, of Gardenview Terrace, East Windsor, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and careless driving. Police said they stopped him at 12:31 a.m. on North Main Street for driving through a stop sign at Maxwell Avenue and Monmouth Street and for crossing the yellow line in the center of the road. His blood-alcohol level was .16 percent, police said.
The Hamilton Barracks of the State Police took Vincent Gagliano, 32, of Toms River, into custody and turned him over to Hightstown police at 7:49 p.m. Oct. 31 on a $750 Hightstown traffic warrant.
Someone poured cooking grease onto the driver’s side window and door handle of a car parked on Cranbury Station Road near Monmouth Street between 7 p.m. Monday and 11:09 a.m. Tuesday.
Someone poured chocolate syrup and threw eggs onto a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Mechanic Street between 11:30 p.m. Oct. 30 and 12:46 a.m. Oct. 31.
