MONTGOMERY: Dyer victory in committee race still unofficial

The Somerset County Board of Elections has not yet released an official result of the Township Committee race, leaving the election in limbo.
Republican Kacey Dyer was the apparent winner last week, after preliminary results released by the county gave her 5,026 votes, a margin of 309 votes over her opponent, Democrat Keith Hovey.
But Mr. Hovey said last week that he would not concede until provisional ballots were counted.
Jerry Midgette, administrator of the county board of elections, said a total of 406 provisional ballots cast in the township, enough to possibly overturn the preliminary result, if the county confirms they were cast by registered voters.
The board is in the process of verifying ballots from all over the county, and Montgomery’s ballots will not be counted until later this week, he said.
