Dorman died peacefully Friday, November 7, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ.  Formerly of Short Hills, Chatham, Madison, Princeton, NJ and Marshfield, MA, she lived in Lambertville for the past 16 years.
Polly loved Lambertville and was very active in the community.   She served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Lambertville Historical Society and the Kalmia Club of Lambertville.  She had her own landscape and garden design business, The Perennial Gardener, and is noted for her beautiful garden landscapes and leaves behind many such gardens in the Lambertville area.  She was a watercolor artist and her work, principally of outdoor scenes and flowers, was shown at juried exhibitions in Lambertville, Princeton and Summit, NJ.
She attended the Kent Place School in Summit and graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1956 with a BA in History.  She was active in the Junior League and studied art while living in the Summit, NJ area.
She was Director of Research for Acquisitions at Drew University,  assistant to the Director of PR at Random House and Senior Copywriter for Wenzel Advertising.  She was also a feature writer for the Star Ledger, the Trenton Times and the contributing writer for several regional magazines.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, William (Bill) Dorman; a sister, Sarah; two children; four step-children; and 8 grandchildren scattered throughout the country.
A gathering in celebration of Polly’s life will be held on Sunday, November 23, at 2 pm at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. 
The family plans memorial services at Nantucket, MA and Casey Key, FL in the spring of 2009 where her ashes will be consecrated to the earth and sea.
