Nominations are now open for the 14th annual Animal Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony will take place Feb. 22 during a public awards luncheon at the Hamilton Park Conference Center in Florham Park.
For 13 years New Jersey’s veterinarians have been honoring special animals that make an indelible impact on the lives of the people around them. Nearly 80 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, horses and even a turtle have had their special contributions honored with induction into the Hall of Fame. Their photos, stories and videos can be found on the Animal Hall of Fame page at www.njvma.org.
Anyone can nominate a candidate for the Hall of Fame and any kind of animal is eligible to compete. The Hall of Fame looks for animals that have done something special in their lives, such as saved or defended a human’s or another animal’s life or brought comfort and love to someone. Nominees could also be professional animals or animals that use their personality to help others.
A licensed New Jersey veterinarian has to sponsor each nomination. The nominating letter should tell the animal’s story, and should emphasize the human-animal bond.
Further information and nomination forms are available online at www.njvma.org and in most veterinary offices.
The nomination deadline is Dec. 1.
