Here comes 35th YWCA Crafters’ Marketplace!
YWCA Princeton’s 35th annual Crafters’ Marketplace — “the” holiday craft show, many would say — will return to Princeton’s John Witherspoon Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The popular juried show features artisans from the region and beyond. Many talented new crafters will be on hand this year, as well as old favorites, offering one-stop shopping for all holiday purchases — handmade baskets, wearable art, trendy fashions, tabletop linens, collectible pottery and glass, distinctive jewelry, children’s clothing and toys, hand-carved items, and much more.
Admission is $6 for adults, and $5 for seniors and children 16 and younger. Children younger than 6 are free — but sorry, no strollers are allowed, by order of the fire marshal.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from Crafters’ Marketplace benefit the YWCA Princeton and its Bates Scholarship program, which enables economically disadvantaged community members to participate in YWCA programs.

Women’s Expo goes Hollywood!
Glitz, glitter and fun are the order of the evening for the sixth annual Women’s Expo, a fundraiser for Orchard Hill Elementary School’s PTA, on Friday, Nov. 21, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Princeton Airport. Designed to be an entertaining evening out for the community’s women, the event attracted more than 400 guests last year.
The evening will have a Hollywood theme, with menu items inspired by great Hollywood classics from event sponsor Tillie’s Nassau Street Caterers, including finger foods served at the preview parties for “Syriana,” “Walk the Line” and “I Am Legend.” The dishes will be paired with tastings of fine wines, and guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with desserts and coffees at the Hollywood Café.
Guests will be transported to Hollywood as Princeton Airport is transformed by the Benefit Committee’s Decorating Committee. Take a walk down the red carpet and look for your favorite star under the palm trees. Klieg lights, diamonds and sequins will all be out that night.
Special holiday shopping opportunities will include a raffle for a Wii System, with only 75 $10 tickets offered for sale. Participants can browse through the Vendors’ Tables at the Rodeo Drive-inspired Shopping Hall, with an abundance of vendors showcasing jewelry, clothing, home accessories, interior design, and more. Or they can bid on unique Silent Auction items, including holiday and spa packages, sports and theater tickets, kids’ classes, kids’ birthday parties, special teacher-child events, chef dinner parties, and more.
“Women’s Expo supports key enrichment programs which benefit all 1,100 students enrolled at Orchard Hill. These programs, like our Arts-in-Education and Teachers’ Grants Programs, add value to the curriculum that makes our schools exceptional. It’s a fun night that brings the community together, all for a great cause. Last year this event raised over $30,000, which was critical for the PTA’s accomplishing its goals for the year,” said Sue Sipos, Women’s Expo chair.
Tickets, available only at the door, cost $30 and include food and the wine tasting, desserts and coffee, and are partially tax-deductible. Checks, Visa and MasterCard will be accepted.
