John W. Rumely, 83, of Westport, Conn., was charged with careless driving following a two-car collision near Route 518 and Province Line Road about 6 p.m. Nov. 11. Police said Mr. Rumely was driving a 2007 Toyota Avalon and attempted to make a left turn from the parking lot of the Solid Rock United Pentecostal Church when he struck an eastbound Chevrolet on Route 518 driven by James Donato, 37, of Hopewell. Mr. Rumely sustained a minor head laceration and Mr. Donato complained of abdominal pain. Elizabeth Frandreau, 11, of Westport, Conn., a front-seat passenger in Mr. Rumely’s car, complained of leg pain. All were transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton.
The southbound lane of Route 206 in the area of Bridgepoint Road was closed for about an hour on Nov. 11 after a dump truck carrying 20 tons of recycled asphalt overturned shortly after 1 p.m. Police said Robert D. Fenske Jr., 61, of Jamestown, northbound in the 1997 Mack truck, reported hearing a loud bang and immediately lost control of the truck, which overturned on its passenger side, spilling its load. Mr. Fenske was able to climb out of the truck and was taken to University Medical Center at Princeton complaining of neck pain. An investigation revealed a rear leaf-spring connector broke, causing the crash, police said.
Johnson & Johnson at Grandview Road reported a company-owned laptop computer, valued at $1,500, was stolen between 1 and 2 p.m. Nov. 10 after an employee left it unattended.
Alexandra Blackwelder, 36, of Princeton was charged with careless driving after a two-vehicle collision at the sharp curve on Route 601 north of the Skillman post office about 4:20 p.m. Nov. 5. Police said Ms. Blackwelder was southbound in a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta when the car left its lane of travel and struck a northbound Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Jamie Hayes, 35, of Ewing. Police said Ms. Blackwelder was driving at excessive speed on the wet pavement. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Cheryl Parris, 38, of Plainfield was charged with failing to maintain lane of travel following a two-car collision at the so-called Reading curve on Route 601 near Belle Mead about 9:15 a.m. Nov. 6. Police said Ms. Parris’ 2004 Pontiac Grand-Am, which was southbound, crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Sharon Fritzinger, 38, of Montgomery. Police said excessive speed and the wet pavement led to the accident.
Police said a second accident occurred at the same location about a half-hour later. Christopher Catanese, 21, of Basking Ridge was charged with failing to maintain lane of travel following the two-car collision about 9:45 a.m. Police said he was southbound in a 2001 Toyota Corolla when the car crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Dennise Krencicki, 58, of Montgomery. Police said unsafe speed and the wet road surface contributed to the accident.
A Pennington resident, 66, reported Nov. 5 the theft of his tree stand, cable lock and deer lure from a wooded area of Route 601 between Oct. 26 and 31. The loss was reported at $105.
Angela Marchese, 58, of Montgomery was charged with failing to stop or yield at a stop sign following a two-car collision at the intersection of Route 206 and Dutchtown-Harlingen Road about noon, Nov. 6. Police said Ms. Marchese attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Route 206 in her 1996 Ford Mustang when it struck a 2007 Chevrolet van driven by Kurt Apfelbaum, 30 of Wanamasa, who was southbound. Ms. Marchese’s car was towed from the scene.
A Hastings Road resident reported Wednesday receiving numerous phone calls from an unknown person over the previous three weeks. When answered, the caller makes lewd and obscene statements.
Rick Rodriguez, of no listed age or address, was charged with possession of controlled and dangerous substance paraphernalia after a motor vehicle stop on Route 206. Police said they stopped Mr. Rodriguez near Montgomery Road for operating a vehicle with in inoperable brake light. The officer observed cigar tobacco shavings on the floor of the vehicle and questioned Mr. Rodriguez about it, according to the report, and he admitted that he was in possession of a marijuana grinder. The officer took possession of the grinder, which contained a small amount of suspected marijuana, police said. Mr. Rodriguez also received summonses for improper maintenance of lamps and possession of a controlled and dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
West Windsor
A resident of Hightstown reported the back tires of her 1997 Volkswagen Jetta were punctured while it was parked in the Wallace pay lot of the Princeton Junction train station. The incident occurred between 6:30 a.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. The damage was estimated at $80.
A student at West-Windsor Plainsboro High School South reported Wednesday that his $300 Apple iPhone was taken from his school locker. He was unsure if it was locked.
Kahlil Brown, 18, of Lawrence was charged with theft Friday at the Best Buy store in Nassau Park shopping center. An employee at the store, he is accused of stealing $500 from a cash register on Wednesday.
