On Wednesday, Nov. 26, Lyons Family Dentistry (806 Farnsworth Ave.) will host its first Dentistry From the Heart event. It will be a free day of dentistry for people who are in need of dental work. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and they will perform on one of the following services per person free of charge: filling, cleaning, or extraction. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. The goal will be to see 100 patients in need.
For those who may be interested in extractions and those who must pre-medicate prior to appointments, it will be your responsibility to first check with your physician regarding the need to stop any anti-coagulants or aspirin regiment and for any pre-medications necessary.
Founded in 2001 by a dentist in New Port Richey, Fla., Dentistry From the Heart was created to aid those in need, including the growing population of under-insured Americans. Over 100 million Americans lack dental insurance, and over 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities. To date, DFTH has helped over 5,000 patients and provided over $1 million in dental care.
